As one of the co-founders of Tin on Tin, and an organizer of this event, to state that every competitor's performance is humbling to behold is an understatement at the very least. The passion, creativity and determination in each of these individuals for this competition inspires awe. Tin on Tin Cocktail Classic is not an easy competition. It's not meant to be. We take bartenders with little to no competing experience that are truly passionate about what they do and put throw them into a pretty grueling situation.
They went into this with only one week to curate a three cocktail menu and create a concept that tells a story about themselves. Of course, we wanted the to focus on responsible local sourcing and sustainability with a "zero waste" cocktail; but in the end we wanted them to tell us a story about themselves and let their personalities shine through their presentation.
In the end, everyone should be proud of the work they put out. Everyone was asked to bring their A game and they went above and beyond the call of duty! But in the end, there could only be one winner.
Angie's homage to her Hispanic Culture and interpretation of sustainability stole the show with her Don Julio, Zacapa and Ketel One cocktails. We'll catch up with Angie in Brooklyn NY for this year's Bar Convent in June of 2018.
